1. Fall Respiratory Season Campaign 2026
New Brunswick will be ready to start its fall immunization campaign on October 13, 2026.
The Department of Health will soon release an official announcement, which will be supported by a variety of promotional materials, including social media posts and advertisements.
Please be advised that we have sufficient vaccine inventory to meet current provincial demand. To support effective inventory management, please order only the quantities required at the time they are needed. There is no need to maintain an excess supply of vaccine doses or to order doses in advance. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us ensure the efficient management of the provincial vaccine inventory.
2. Influenza program
Products
· FLUZONE (Multidose Vial - MDV; Prefill Syringe - PFS) - 6 months to 64 years of age (under 65)
· FLUVIRAL (MDV)- 6 months to 64 years of age (under 65)
· FLUMIST (nasal spray) - 2-17 years old (under 18) with a fear of needles who would not otherwise be vaccinated
· FLUAD (PFS)- 65 years and older
· FLUZONE HD (PFS) - 65 years and older with a history of severe allergy to a component of the FLUAD vaccine. The available quantity is limited, and orders must be placed in boxes of 5 doses. To determine eligibility, please contact the Vaccine Operations Centre (VOC) at VOC-opsDesk@GNB.ca. If approved, Public Health will order and administer the vaccine to eligible individuals.
Eligibility:
All New Brunswick residents over 6 months of age are eligible to receive influenza vaccine. Immunization is strongly recommended for populations who are at higher risk of severe Influenza illness. Refer to the New Brunswick Respiratory Season Vaccine Guide for additional information.
Ordering timelines:
Long Term Care Facilities (LTCF) / Sub Depots / Regional Health Authorities (RHA) – can start submitting your orders by September 14th for expected delivery starting the week of September 28th.
Community Pharmacies – allocations will be uploaded for influenza ordering on September 14th, 2026 expected delivery starting the week of October 5th. Covid allocations will be uploaded on September 14th, 2026 also and are expected to be delivered week of October 5th, 2026 if vaccine has arrived in the Province.
Please plan your clinics to allow sufficient time to deliver vaccines to your facility/clinic. We do not encourage scheduling your immunization clinics before you have received your vaccines.
3. COVID-19 Program
Products (French PDFs unavailable at time of drafting)
· Moderna SPIKEVAX (XFG) (MDV) - 6 months and older
· Moderna SPIKEVAX (XFG) (PFS) - 12 years and older
· Pfizer COMIRNATY (XFG) (MDV and PFS) - 12 years and older
· NUVAXOVID (PFS) – individuals 12 years and older who had a severe reaction after a previous dose of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine or who are allergic to a component of Spikevax/Comirnaty. A small number of Nuvaxovid (non-mRNA) doses are available and orders must be placed in boxes of 10 doses. To determine eligibility, please contact the Vaccine Operations Centre (VOC) at VOC-opsDesk@GNB.ca. If approved, Public Health will order and administer the vaccine to eligible individuals. Doses expire December 31, 2026.
Eligibility: New Brunswick residents 6 months and older. Immunization is strongly recommended for populations who are at higher risk of severe COVID-19 illness. Refer to the New Brunswick Respiratory Season Vaccine Guide for additional information.
Interval: There is a minimum interval of three months between COVID-19 vaccine doses.
Supply: For the upcoming respiratory season, there will be a limited supply of Pfizer and Nuvaxovid available in the province. Moderna will be the primary product offered. Please note that vaccine brands are mentioned solely for reference, and orders will be fulfilled based on product availability.
Orders and use of vaccines:
Long Term Care Facilities / Sub Depots / Regional Health Authorities – can start submitting orders by September 14th for expected delivery starting the week of September 28th
Community Pharmacies – can start submitting orders by September 21st for expected delivery starting the week of October 5th
Order only quantities of the COVID-19 vaccine that can be administered before their expiry date. This is particularly crucial for frozen vaccines with shorter shelf lives once thawed.
Expiry Dates for COVID-19 vaccines:
The expiry date listed on the packaging applies to frozen vaccines only. Once the vaccines are received and refrigerated, you must update their expiry date according to the following guidelines:
· For refrigerated, room temperature, and punctured (opened) vaccines, follow the instructions provided in the Guide for New Brunswick’s Respiratory Season Program as well as the product monographs.
IMPORTANT ACTION NEEDED- COVID-19 Vaccine LP 8.1 Removal from inventory
· Please ensure all COVID-19 LP 8.1 vaccine has been removed from inventory and returned to McKesson prior to beginning of 2026-2027 respiratory campaign.
Follow your current return process to have all COVID 19 vaccines to McKesson. If any questions, please contact the voc-opsdesk@gnb.ca.
4. Pneumococcal Program
Product: Prevnar 20 - Remember that the only product available for adult pneumococcal immunization is Prevnar 20 (conjugate vaccine).
Eligibility:
· All adults ≥ 65 years of age who have not previously received a pneumococcal vaccine (Pneu-C-20 or Pneumovax 23) can receive one dose of Prevnar 20.
· Adults at increased risk of invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) – Please refer to the New Brunswick Eligibility Criteria Table for Publicly Funded Vaccine.
5. Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) program for adults
Product: ABRYSVO
Schedule: One dose only is needed during adulthood.
Eligibility
· All New Brunswick residents over 75 years of age living in community settings;
· Indigenous people 60 and older;
· Residents 60 years and older living in long term care facilities (Nursing Homes and Adult Residential Facilities)

6. Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) program for infants
Product: BEYFORTUS
Eligibility:
· All infants born or entering their first RSV season (born after April 1, 2026 and under 8 months old).
· All infants entering the second RSV season who are at ongoing risk of severe RSV illness due to conditions including:
· Chronic lung disease, including bronchopulmonary dysplasia, requiring ongoing assisted ventilation, oxygen therapy or chronic medical therapy in the 6 months prior to the start of the RSV season
· Cystic fibrosis with respiratory involvement and/or growth delay
· Haemodynamically significant chronic cardiac disease
· Severe immunodeficiency
· Severe congenital airway anomalies impairing clearing of respiratory secretions
· Neuromuscular disease impairing clearing of respiratory secretions
· Down syndrome
· Premature infants less than 32 wGA
Ordering timelines:
Effective September 21, 2026, Beyfortus orders can be placed according to the following process:
Beyfortus is available in packages of 1 or 5 prefilled syringes, with dosages of 50 mg and 100 mg. When placing your order, please indicate the required dosage.

8. Provincial Scheduler
Please submit your clinic schedules for Influenza and COVID clinics fall respiratory vaccinations by September 18th to: Vaccines NB @ vnbsupport.soutiensvnb@gnb.ca.
Your clinics will be published October 2, 2026, for general population to book appointments for clinics starting October 13th, 2025. Please ensure you plan your clinics according to your vaccine delivery dates.

10. Reminders
Immunizers are responsible for reporting Adverse Events Following Immunizations (AEFI) to the regional Public Health as per the document: Reporting of adverse events following immunization
To meet Public Health Act regulations, all immunizers who administer publicly funded vaccines must document immunizations within one week of administration. This is achieved when this data is entered into the Public Health Information Solution (PHIS). The process is outlined in the New Brunswick Respiratory Season Vaccine Guide.
11. iTacit Online Courses for New Brunswick Immunization Program Guide (NBIPG)
iTacit NBIPG online courses were launched in June 2026. We are pleased to announce that the online course dedicated to the Fall Respiratory Vaccination Season is now available to all immunization providers.
We encourage all immunizers to take the time to complete the course before the start of the respiratory vaccination season to ensure they are well prepared for the upcoming campaign.
Registration is available by creating an account on our eHealthNB Centre site.
