Acknowledgement and Undertaking
In a decision dated September 26, 2025, a panel of the NANB Complaints Committee accepted an Acknowledgement and Undertaking between NANB and Jiayi Wang (Registration Number 031896). Mr. Wang admitted to having a lack of experience in the operating room, having room for improvement, being unfamiliar with the names of certain instruments in the operating room, not knowing what to do in certain scenarios, and making mistakes with surgical counts, which were corrected or found before the end of the procedure.
Mr. Wang resigned his NANB registration effective December 1, 2024, but voluntarily agreed to the following conditions on his registration if he ever reapplies for registration, temporary registration, or membership with NANB:
- Successfully complete remedial education relating to operating room nursing;
- Practise under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner and submit written reports from the supervising Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner for the first 300 hours following his return to the active practise of nursing;
- Submit performance evaluations from his employer(s) from the date of his return to the active practise of nursing;
- Refrain from working independently as a self-employed Registered Nurse or in a supervisory role until he has an unencumbered registration; and
- Provide to each employer and regulatory body with which he is registered with a copy of the Consent Agreement and corresponding Complaints Committee Decision and notify NANB of any change in address or employer.
